Kia ora!!!
This week I'm excited to be releasing a brand new collection of 11 limited edition prints I captured at Whakapapa Ski-field on Mount Ruapehu a couple weeks back. I've been wanting to capture a series like this for a while and with Summer on the horizon, this was my last chance to do so with the ski season coming to a close. In saying that, my intentions were more about sussing out the area and seeing if flying a quadcopter was possible and or safe (it isn't), and plan a trip for next winter, but, I couldn't help myself from snapping some shots on the way up to Knoll Ridge Cafe. Once there I realised I could shoot a lot of what was in my head from the cafe deck as well as the ski-lifts so I organised something to eat for my two kids and headed outside to snap a few shots. Once they were satisfied we jumped back on the ski-lifts and did a few laps up and down the mountain to shoot a few more images. It was a really tricky shoot with my two kids in tow, but, it was a win win as they got to play in the snow and 'ride' the chairlifts while I got to take some photo's.
As it says below, each print is limited to 20 signed and numbered copies as well as a signed certificate of authenticity. Once the edition is sold out, I'll then offer 2 of each print as artist proofs so get in quick if you like the look of any of them.
That's a wrap for this week, I hope you like the images as much as I had creating them! It was a good day all round with epic weather conditions and a few people still enjoying the mountain. It was nice also to take my kids with me and watch them experience the snow and see their excitement as we drew closer to the ski-field. As I mentioned earlier this was more of an opportunity to scout Whakapapa so I know what to expect next year, but, I'll keep you posted on that as soon as it happens.
