Kia ora and welcome back.
This weeks print of the week - 'Galaxsea II' - sits in the ‘Sea’ collection and was captured just last week on Australia’s Sunshine Coast. My wee whānau and I spent a week in Queensland and I have to say it was one of the funnest weeks I’ve had in a while. Being winter (and the fact we don’t get good waves often) it’s been a struggle to get out and shoot, but, I made every single day count by shooting every single sunrise. With my gear neatly packed (so not to disturb anyone as I leave the house) I aimed to get out the door by 5am and beeline it straight for the 7/11 where I’d get a couple coffees before heading to the beach. Sunrise was around the 6 0 clock mark so this gave me plenty of time to get to the beach, watch the waves in the dark with my coffee and slowly, but, intentionally get my camera prepped for shooting. Most mornings I’d be in the water before the sun came up and I loved this timing because it allowed me to soak in the entire golden hour and experience the way the light interacts and plays with the sea as the sun rises. It was a beautiful week for me and this particular image was one that I’ve been hunting for a while and is easily one my favs from the trip. For those wondering what the hells going on this picture, this is the result of an offshore breeze blowing water droplets off the crest (or apex) of the wave leaving them scattered on the oceans surface. It’s a tricky shot because the droplets land in patches and disappear within seconds so not only do you have to be quick, but, you have to be in the right spot also.
Anyway, as with all the prints of the week, you don’t have to enter a code or anything (as I’ve done that for you), just choose your desired print (or framed print) and the discount will be applied automatically.
